Creativity until you drop down –
Interview with Maya Schneider
A few weeks ago we first introduced you to our new student renaissance project, in which we are cooperating with the Lola Magazine in Berlin. This is about helping our Staytoo community in a huge city like Berlin to get a voice. Additionally, you have the opportunity to let off steam creatively and gain insights into an exciting workflow. In the following interview you will see how much Maya enjoyed her time with the LOLA Mag and why you should apply urgently.
Being in a cooperation with LOLA we would like to know how you liked your time there:
My experience in the magazine was truly significant, especially thanks to my two mentors-Jonny (Editor-in-chief) and Erica (Digital editor). I received constant feedback for my work every week and I have learned a lot from them. I got to explore different sides of Berlin through words and photos.
Why did you take advantage of the opportunity?
I moved to Berlin from Israel in order to study Copywriting, and it made me realize how important it is to gain experience in the “real world” and to improve myself as a writer. When I heard about the LOLA program I felt it’s something that can be both challenging and interesting for me, so I decided to go for it.
What did you learn in the months working there and what persuaded you to prolong your cooperation?
I have learned a lot about the editorial world. Since we live in a world where media channels are constantly fighting over the readers’ attention, it’s important now more than ever to stay relevant and interesting to win the battle. It’s true that the content is the most important thing, but without an attractive post on social media and a well-structured feature, no one will even bother reading it. The reason I wanted to prolong my work in the magazine was the feeling that I’m improving my skills every feature I’m working on, and I enjoyed being challenged every week with new tasks.
Would you recommend working there?
Hundred times Yes! The work in LOLA magazine suits creative folks who are open minded to meet new people and to learn about different fields. It’s especially for those who like to explore the city and hear fascinating stories from unique people and of course, that are interested in getting more into the editorial world and want to develop themselves and improve their skills.
So, what are you waiting for? Apply now and have the chance to fully experience the creative side of Berlin.
